In the vineyard-April
AprilHarvest is in full swing.
After a long slow grow and ripen, vintage finishes with the usual rush of blood as we try to juggle the logistics of: sourcing a picking crew; availability of sufficient fermenter/press space in the winery on the day we want to harvest; achieving optimum flavour development in the grapes; onset of the rain season; protecting the fruit from Hitchcockesque plagues of birds, and the potential for a cold autumn/early winter to close down the vines before the grapes reach the flavour quality we want for super-premium wine.
Normal autumn in the vineyard basically.
