Most years we’d be head down, bum up with a team of pickers by now, harvesting our fruit just before the onset of winter. But this year the whole island is running 2-4 weeks late, due to strong winds all Spring. Fortunately Autumn has been mild, the canopy is still ticking along and flavours are developing wonderfully.
We’ve just applied our final Biodynamic 501 atmospheric spray, prior to harvest (see pics of Kasrat and me looking right prats using shed-modified knapsack sprayers to apply 501 under the nets) and are anxiously watching the weather patterns and the Astro-calendar to co-ordinate a fruit day with some good weather for picking.
